The Turtle Ponds

Just North of the University of Texas Tower, you will find The Turtle Ponds.  These ponds were built during construction of the Tower from 1934-1939.  The adjacent gardens and ponds were named the Tower Garden Memorial when the area was dedicated to victims of the 1966 tower shootings.

You will see turtles of varying sizes and species swimming around the ponds or sunning on the rocks and ledges of the pond and even stacked on one another.  This is a great place for any age to visit.
